Back to Your Questions

What should I improve first?

Start with the result you need. If orders are late, find where the work waits or has to be redone before you decide whether to buy equipment, hire a manager, or bring in more sales.

Find what is holding up the result

Follow one recent job from inquiry to delivery. Where did it wait? What did someone have to redo? What information or decision was missing? Compare it with a job that went well.

Check what the improvement depends on

A new machine might need a trained operator, reliable materials, and enough work to use it. For each option, write down what has to be in place, who will do the work, and what else must wait.

Choose what you’ll measure

Record the starting point and the change you expect. For late orders, that might mean tracking how often you deliver on time and how long work waits at the suspected bottleneck. Check the result before committing more resources.
